ITANAGAR, May 21: The Jully Valley Youth Welfare Association (JVYWA) has demanded immediate repairing and maintenance of road form Ganga market in Itanagar to Papunallah Via Jully within a month or else threatened to launch democratic movement.
Speaking to media, the JVYWA, general secretary Byabang Noah inform that the road from Ganga market in Itanagar to Papunallah in Naharlagun is in pathetic condition and the denizens and commuters has to face lots of inconvenience and untold suffering time and again. Though repairing and maintenance takes place every years but it like in namesake and the condition of the road remain same. He said.
“We has submitted our appeal the to the concern PWD Chief engineer and Executive engineers and they should without wasting any more time should immediately repair the road, fill-up the potholes within one month,” there are no option left with us to resort to democratic movement against the PWD authority. He said.
The local residents are facing severe difficulties in transportation due to the bad condition of the road. The main road and sub-road connecting Ganga to Papu Nallah via Jollang are in a very poor condition. Several instances of road accidents is being reported every day. Many person including school going, college going and university going children has been injured in several road accidents in the said stretch almost every day. The drainage system is also required in the whole of stretch and due to absence of proper drainage system the major portion of the road has either been dammed or washed away and huge potholes has been created and several ponds has come up. He said.
Due non availability of drainage system all along the way the rainwater flow through the road is a matter of great concern and the authority has to check such places and immediately doe to restore the road or else by few days the road would not be worthy for vehicular movement. We have been repeatedly approaching the authority for restoration and repairing and maintenance of the road but no response and action has been witnessed. It is also sad affairs that time and again the ruling BJP party hold meeting in Jully in which union minister Kiren Rijiju, chief minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, ministers, MLAs, senior leaders and several others attend and they also face the same problems but who cares and no action is beign initiated by them ales and its appears from the condition of road. Several lawmakers, senior politician, state BJP President, former ministers, former MLAs, senior officers social workers, public leaders bit no one come up for the very important cause as everyone are facing daily and at last we appeal the state government to immediately start with the repairing and maintenance of the road till the permanent solution is taken up which may take time. He said.
We are aware that a proposal is underway for compete strengthening of the said road but till such time if the PWD does not fill up the potholes and restore the road for smooth flow of the traffic movement we may launch the democratic movement with 1st phase, 2nd phase and even other means of democratic movement be adopted in the greater interest of the general public and commuters.
