Yingkiong Celebrates 14th National Voters’ Day with Enthusiasm

Yingkiong, Jan 25, 2024: The 14th National Voters’ Day was celebrated with fervor at the Multipurpose Hall in Yingkiong, in alignment with nationwide festivities under the theme ‘Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure.’ The event was graced by the presence of Deputy Commissioner-cum-DEO Hage Lailang, who emphasized the significance of National Voters’ Day in encouraging democratic participation.

Addressing the gathering, DC Hage Lailang underscored the importance of citizens exercising their voting rights without prejudice during upcoming elections. He urged the people of Upper Siang to actively contribute to the democratic process, emphasizing that an increased voting percentage reflects a healthy participation in democracy.

The Deputy Commissioner congratulated newly enrolled voters, emphasizing the responsibility that comes with the power to participate in the electoral process. ADC-cum-Deputy DEO Oli Perme and SDO-cum-ERO (Hq) Rajiv Chiduni also spoke on the significance of voting rights in a democratic nation, with Chiduni elaborating on the theme dedicated to voters expressing their individual feelings and aspirations through their votes.

The celebration included the distribution of EPIC to new young voters, felicitation of meritorious Booth Level Officers, and recognition of winners from painting and essay competitions conducted under SVEEP. VKV School, Yingkiong children presented colorful cultural items and a skit on the power of the vote, while EVM/VVPAT and SVEEP counters were displayed as part of SVEEP activities.

The event witnessed the participation of government officers, officials, school children, and the general public, showcasing a collective commitment to fostering a robust democratic ethos in the region.
