Work should not be stopped due to fund issues: CM says on Itanagar-Jote State highway

TALO, Feb 25: Chief Minister Pema Khandu has assured to look into the issue plaguing the progress of Itanagar to Jote 2 lane state highway whose work has been stopped by contractor alleging lack of proper funding by the state government.

Talking to the media here on the sideline of Talo Nyokum celebration, CM said he has been made aware of the situation by the senior government official.

“After Nyokum I will conduct a review meeting. There is no fund problem,” said the CM. He also said the progress of work so far is quite good. “Advisor to PWD has inspected and told me that physical progress is good. The government definitely should pay contractors on time.

Work should not be stopped due to fund issues as there is enough funds for the project,” he said. Further, he said Itanagar to Jote 2 lane highway is important as many big educational institutes are coming up in the Jote area.

Earlier on Thursday the contractor of Arunachal’s first two state highways threatened to stop the work alleging that the state government is not providing sufficient funds to continue the work.
