ITANAGAR, 11 May: The secretary health P Partibhan has informed that the state government has placed order for more than 4 lakh doses of Covid 19 vaccine to start the vaccination of those above 18 years of age.
Talking to the media here on Tuesday the secretary said the state government allotted Rs 65 crore exclusively for the purchase of vaccines.
“Right now only two vaccines are available in India and therefore there is shortage. But we are still hopeful of getting required vaccines at the earliest,” said secretary. He said at present per day 5000 people are getting vaccinated on an average in the state.
“Right now we are having very less and around 20 thousand doses are to be arrived in the state in a few days and it may last for only 5-6 days,” added secretary Partibhan.
On the availability of oxygen beds in the state, the secretary said at present there are 300 oxygen beds in the state. “By June next we are planning to have 800 bed with oxygen support through a pipeline at the hospital bed to the patient directly. There are enough ventilators and as on today we have around 70 across the state. The doctors and nurses have been trained to work in ICU. We are expecting 700 cases per day in the coming days and making preparation accordingly,” said Secretary health.
There are 565 medical officers out of which more than 200 are working as programme officers and recently an order has been given and all has been directed to practice clinical works, 55 specialist has been recruited and 65 GDMO has also been posted out and hope that are not shortage of doctors in state and also in case of nurse are also there and ICU technician are been outsourced. He said.
As the second wave of Covid 19 intensifies in the state, the government has set up a control room headed by secretary Mining Anirudh Singh to monitor the situation.
“The state control is monitoring the situation in collaboration with the district control room. They constantly check availability of oxygen bed, oxygen cylinder and operation of oxygen generation plants. Wherever problems come up the control room brings it to the notice of competent authority and immediately it is resolved,” informed Partibhan.
The secretary also assured that the state will not face any oxygen issue as enough measures are in place to ensure availability of oxygen.
“We are constantly monitoring oxygen availability. There is nothing to worry,” he said. The secretary health also said the battle against Covid 19 will be long and added that without the support of the public the government alone will not be able to fight the battle.
