Soldier Honored for Sacrifice in Assam: Wreath Laying Ceremony and Family Interaction Organized

In a solemn ceremony held today, the bravery and sacrifice of Number G/3100886A Rfn (GD) Bhairav Nath Yadav were honored by his unit. Rfn Yadav, who was deployed for Internal Security duties in 1989, made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation while performing railway protection duty at the Ganges river bridge in Kokrajhar.

On June 20, 1989, tragedy struck as an improvised explosive device (IED) laid down by militants exploded on the Ganges river bridge. Rfn Bhairav Nath Yadav, part of the Railway Protection Party, was present at the site when the blast occurred. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Rfn (GD) Bhairav Nath Yadav’s commitment and courage were acknowledged by his unit, emphasizing his devotion to duty. In recognition of his selflessness, a wreath-laying ceremony was organized on June 20, 2023, to commemorate his great sacrifice for the nation. The event was attended by the commanding officer and fellow soldiers, who paid their respects to the fallen hero.

Furthermore, the unit took special measures to honor Rfn Bhairav Nath Yadav’s memory. No G/5004911H Rfn (GD) Sanjay Kumar Yadav was sent to the braveheart’s native place to meet with the soldier’s family. During the interaction, Rfn Sanjay Kumar Yadav presented gifts to the fallen soldier’s parents, symbolizing the unit’s solidarity and support in their time of grief.

The wreath-laying ceremony and the gesture of reaching out to Rfn Bhairav Nath Yadav’s family exemplify the profound respect and gratitude felt towards the brave soldiers who lay down their lives for the safety and well-being of the nation.
