Secondary and Sr secondary schools to be opened from Sept 1 for offline classes

ITANAGAR, Aug 30: The state government has decided to restart the offline classes for secondary and senior secondary level from September 1 onwards. Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar while talking to the media on Monday evening informed that the schools will be reopened by strictly following the standard operating procedure (SOP).

“The education and health departments together have worked out SOP. Strict instructions have been issued to the school authorities to follow SOP while restarting offline classes in the schools,” said CS. He acknowledged that online classes have not been successful due to poor digital connectivity in the state. “The student communities have suffered a lot due to the impact of Covid 19. Conducting online classes in the state is challenging considering the internet problem. The state cabinet recently took note of teething problems,” he added.

The CS further said teachers, staff and all students above 18 years should be vaccinated. “Besides being vaccinated, the social distancing measures and wearing of masks are all compulsory. The state government will extend all possible help to start the offline classes,” said CS Naresh Kumar.

The Offline classes shall be started from 1st September, 2021 in all schools only for Classes 9th to 12th in the first phase. The decision with respect to re-opening of Classes 1st – 8th in next phase shall be taken in due course of time and online mode of school shall continue for these classes till further directions. He said.

The Head of School shall be responsible for ensuring proper implementation of this SoP. School Management Committee having representatives of Parents & Teachers shall also monitor implementation of new norms as per SOP in the school by all concerned. He appealed to the parents to guide the children while going to school and also on arrival from school. CS added.
