Papum Pare DC urges TSPs to enhance telecom infra and to improve internet services

Yupia Sept 07: The first District Level Telecom Monitoring Committee (DLMC) meeting of Papum Pare District ( Rural) conducted today  under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner- Cum- Chairman DLMC Shri Pige Ligu to discuss the problems and grievances of Telecom Service Providers and issues relating to telecom infrastructure in the district.
     

Addressing the august gathering, the Deputy Commissioner Pige Ligu highlighted the importance of Information Technology (IT) in present context and stated that good network connectivity has become an essential part of our life and all Telecom Service Providers should ensure that their consumers in every corner gets proper network in all aspects.

He further said that in interior places various Govt of India flagship programmes suffer due to poor telecom infrastructures especially in almost all circles like Mengio, Toru, Leporiang, Tarasso, Balijan, Sangdupota and Kakoi as success of flagships programme totally depends on proper network facility.

Citing the example of  Sangdupota circle which has been established as an education hub over the years with coming up of premier institutes like National Institute of Technology(NIT),  Film and Television Institute, Govt Law College and many more prominent projects, he said that unavailability of proper internet services can affect the institutes in various academic or research activities.

Urging the representatives of various Telecom Service Providers (TSP) to enhance the telecom infrastructures in the district and to improve internet services in the larger interest of the public. Responding to the problems and grievances of TSPs, the Deputy Commissioner asked them to intimate the district administration in writing regarding any work related to the Telecom infrastructures within the administrative jurisdiction of Papum Pare District and advised them to always work taking into confidence of District administration.

He further asked TSPs to submit written representation of their problems and grievances mentioning the particular sites so that it can be sorted out in a time bound manner.

ADC (Hq)-Cum- Convenor DLMC Shri Tabang Bodung also asked the TSPs to maintain proper communication and  go through a systematic way by conveying the district administration prior to selection or  erection of any telecom infrastructures in the district.  

SP Papum Pare Dr. Neelam Nega also spoke on preventive measures to avoid any disruption and theft incidents related to telecom services. ZPC Chukhu Bablu who also presented at the meeting expressed that  TSPs should compensate the land owners through which cables are trespassing. He also apprised about the situation where the network connection suddenly stops in Gumto under Doimukh circle and asked the respective TSPs to resolve the issue.
E- Governance Officer Smti Tadar Rhiniam briefed about the guidelines for granting of Right of Way (RoW) to telecom infrastructures in Arunachal Pradesh 2018 and asked all telecom providers to follow the guidelines while applying for setting up of new mobile tower infrastructures or renewal or any telecom related works.

Various problems faced by the telecom services providers by the representatives of telecom services providers. Shri Harpreet Singh, Principal Advisor, TAIPA ( Tower and Infrastructures Providers Association)  who joined meeting through VC apprised the DC that currently 1200 mobile towers are installed in AP, In addition to it, to cover the entire state and as per the National Broadband Mission target the total numbers of towers should be around 3000 by 2024 so that citizen can avail the basic 4G mobile internet connection. He also requested the DC to look into the pending applications regarding NOC, electricity issues and sites with some DG restrictions.  Shri Habung Tage, State Coordinator Reliance Jio also highlighted the process of installation of telecom infrastructures and misconception of local people on mobile towers erection and problem of electricity connection.  

HoDs of the Line department, CO-Cum-Nodal Officer E-Governance, and representatives of Telecom Service Providers attended the meeting.
