Itanagar, March 29: The nomination papers for the Legislative Assembly Seat of the 13th Itanagar AC (ST) were accepted today for Techi Kaso of BJP by the Returning Officer, Shweta Nagarkoti, IAS, informed in press release issued by RO on Friday.
The release further said, During the scrutiny of nomination papers on March 28, 2024, objections were raised by Techi Kaso against the nomination papers of opposing candidate Tai Tadap of NPP. The objections included issues related to oath affirmation, double enrolment in EPIC in two different constituencies, and incorrect information in the affidavit.
The RO gave Tai Tadap an opportunity to respond to the objections until 11 am on March 29, 2024, but no reply was submitted. Upon review, one objection was deemed substantive: Tai Tadap had subscribed his oath before filing his nomination, a violation of election guidelines and rules, the release said.
As per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India and the Supreme Court judgment in ‘Pashupatinath Singh Vs Harihar Prasad Singh AIR 1967’, which stipulates that oath or affirmation cannot be taken before nomination, the nomination paper of NPP party candidate Tai Tadap was rejected, the release further said.
