Namsai Police arrests drug peddler, recovers heroin 

 NAMSAI, Apr 29: In their efforts against drug menace, the Namsai Police arrested one more drug peddler today and recovered contraband substances such as heroin.Informing about the arrest and the recovery, Namsai Police in a statement said at around 1 pm they received information from a reliable source that one Chow Mokham Simit, son of late Chow Along Simit of Paleng village under Namsai Police Station was dealing in contraband substances such as heroin.

Accordingly, the Anti-Drug Squad of Namsai, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (P) Kengo Dirchi along with CRPF personnel of A-186 Bn CRPF, Namsai raided the house of Chow Mokham Simit in presence of Executive Magistrate Hage Nari and independent witnesses and recovered a number of items including contraband substance, Namsai Superintendent of Police Dr. DW Thongon informed.The Anti-Drug Squad recovered 3 small-sized plastic containers containing white and orange colour powder substance suspected to be contraband substances weighing approximately 6 grams, the Namsai Police chief said in a statement.One weighing machine, suspected to be used for weighing contraband substances, was also recovered.

The team also seized cash amount of Rs 3,50,000 of various denominations, suspected to be gathered selling contraband substances.The accused, Chow Mokham Simit, has been arrested by the police.The recovered items have been seized in presence of independent witnesses and a case vide Namsai Police Station Case No. 23/2022 U/S 21(b) NDPS Act has been registered and endorsed Inspector Tasi Yangi for investigation, the statement said.In the last one week, the Anti-Drug Squad of Namsai district has arrested at least four other drug peddlers from various locations under Namsai district, recovered contraband substances and regular cases have been registered against them, the Namsai SP further said.
