In a joint operation on January 11, 2024, involving Military Intelligence, Security Forces, and Longding Police, a significant breakthrough was achieved with the arrest of six hardcore cadres of NSCN(IM) in Longding district. The operation, prompted by specific intelligence, unfolded between Longding town and Niausa, leading to the apprehension of the suspects.
During spot interrogation, the captured cadres disclosed information about a concealed cache of sophisticated arms between Knoknu and Khasa villages. Further operations in this region resulted in the recovery of three MQ assault rifles, detonators, mobile phones, and other warlike stores.
Legal proceedings are underway with a case registered at Longding Police Station under various sections, including 120b, 121, 122, 384, and 506 of the IPC, RW Sect 10/13 of the UAP Act, and Sect 25(1A)/27 of the Arms Act. Investigations have unveiled the alleged involvement of the arrested NSCN(IM) members in issuing extortion notes to heads of departments and public leaders, exposing broader, sinister plans.
The six apprehended NSCN(IM) cadres have been identified as follows:

- Mikgam@Longsah/Tapha Wangsa (27 yrs): Ss Capt (No.17819)
- Thangwang@Athang Wangsa (29 yrs): Ss Sgt (No.80423)
- Alung Ngodam (31 yrs): Ss Capt (No.21398)
- Jamgang Gangsa (27 yrs): Ss L/Cpl (No.80928) – Ex-ENNG cadre surrendered on 21/07/2021, transitioning to NSCN(IM) on April 2020 and December 31, 2023, respectively.
