The arrest took place at Niuanuu and Niuassa village, where a Tata Nexon vehicle coming from Pongchoa was intercepted. During the operation, law enforcement discovered and seized 11 packets of suspected brown sugar, weighing 140.2 grams. Notably, the contraband substances were cleverly concealed in soap cases to deceive both the police and the general public.

Following her arrest, Smt. Pampi Wangsa was presented before the court on the same day, alongside the seized items. The Judicial Magistrate ordered the accused to be remanded in Judicial custody for a duration of 14 days.

Efforts to combat the drug menace in Longding district have intensified, with the Longding police, along with other security agencies, actively pursuing additional arrests. Currently, they are seeking the accused’s partner, who fled Pongchoa upon learning of her friend’s apprehension.

Investigations have revealed that the drugs were being transported from Longwa District, Mon Nagaland. It is worth noting that Longding District Police, in conjunction with 40 AR and 36 BN CRPF, previously arrested four drug traffickers, including three females, on June 24, 2023. On that occasion, 11 packets of brown sugar were also confiscated.
