NAHARLAGUN, Aug 05: The Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso along with Chief Engineer PWD Highway S Sumnyan on Thursday inspected NH 415 at Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Karsingsa up to Banderdewa. The condition of the road in between Naharlagun and Nirjuli has worsened in recent days.
Later talking to the press Kaso said the work on both package B (Papu Nallah to Nirjuli) and package C (Nirjuli to Banderdewa) will start soon. “I understand that the condition of the road is very bad. But the work will start soon and citizens need to be patient. After the appointed date is issued it will be the duty of the contractor to maintain the highway,” said Kaso.
Regarding pending bridge projects at Naharlagun he said Borum-Helipad bridge will be completed by March 2022. “The railways had assured us to complete the Yupia-Lekhi bridge at the earliest. But assurance has not been materialized and if needed again I will take up the matter with railways for early completion of the bridge,” said Kaso.
“ I have also seen the road condition between Naharlagun and NIrjuli and have requested the highway department to fill up the potholes and repair and maintain the road till the road is fully handed over to the contractor” Kaso added.
Chief Engineer S Sumnyan said repairs are being done. He said earth cutting along the highway has caused damage and this needs to be addressed. Regarding package B and C, he said preparatory work has started for Package-C. “Mobilisation is being done by the contractor. The Authority Engineers appointed by MoRTH to monitor the project have also started ground work,” said CE Sumnyan.
Further he informed that the appointed date for the package C is 2nd August 2021. “The project is supposed to be completed 3 years from the appointed date,” he said.
Also giving details about package C he said apart from land issues, the other issues have largely been resolved. “I am pretty sure that even land issues will be sorted out soon. We are awaiting handing over of land for package B so that an appointed date for package-B is given,” said CE Sumnyan.
As part of package B, a two-lane flyover will be constructed starting from Benjamin Hotel (Papu Nallah) upto Model village (Naharlagun) informed CE Sumnyan.
“Also 1.1 KM viaduct bridge will be constructed to avoid the sinking zone of Karsingsa in package-C,” he added.
