HIM International School, Itanagar, Hosts Thrilling CBSE FAR EAST ZONE CLUSTER-I TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT 2023

Itanagar, Nov 06: The HIM International School in Itanagar recently played host to a spectacular four-day sporting extravaganza, the CBSE FAR EAST ZONE CLUSTER-I TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT 2023. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 35 schools and close to 200 talented young athletes. 

The culmination of the tournament on November 6th was marked by a valedictory function graced by esteemed guests. Shree Satrajit Kachari, Assistant Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Sports Authority of India, shared insights into the significance of sports in education. He emphasized the need for sports to become an integral part of every school curriculum and highlighted the role of the Sports Authority of India in providing young athletes with the necessary facilities to develop their skills.

Manas Chatterjee, the Principal of HIM International School, delivered a motivational speech, drawing parallels between the journey of a child learning to walk and that of the young participants who faced failures and setbacks during the tournament. He stressed the idea that failures are the stepping stones to success.

The tournament featured student participants across various age categories, including Under-14 (Boys & Girls), Under-17 (Boys & Girls), and Under-19 (Boys & Girls). In the team events, Shrimanta Shankar Academy, Dispur, Guwahati, and Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Golaghat, emerged as champions in the Under-14 Boys’ and Girls’ categories, respectively. In the Under-17 category, Don Bosco School, Guwahati, claimed the top spot among boys, while Delhi Public School, Dibrugarh, secured the gold among girls. In the Under-19 category, the winners were Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Golaghat, and St. Mary’s Senior Secondary School, Maligaon, in the Boys’ and Girls’ categories, respectively.

The host school, HIM International School, Itanagar, also displayed its competitive spirit by clinching the Bronze medal in the Under-14 and Under-19 Girls’ categories. In the individual events, Shrimanta Shankar Academy, Dispur, shone with a gold medal in the Under-14 Boys’ category, while Don Bosco School, Guwahati, secured the gold in the Girls’ category. In the Under-17 event, Don Bosco School, Guwahati, and Shrimanta Shankar Academy, Dispur, achieved top honors in the Boys’ and Girls’ categories, respectively. In the Under-19 category for both Boys and Girls, the winners were Delhi Public School, Numaligarh, and St. Mary’s Senior Secondary School, Maligaon, respectively.
