Heavy motor vehicles on NH-415 between Banderdewa and Nirjuli are being diverted through Harmuty

ITANAGAR, JUNE 12: The Itanagar capital administration has diverted the movement of heavy motor vehicles and heavy traffic on NH-415 between Banderdewa and Nirjuli through Harmuty due to ongoing road construction and the threat of heavy landslides to commuters.

In a traffic advisory issued by Banderdewa Circle Officer (CO) Toko Anu, vide BDWA/Highway-415/2023/89 dated June 12, 2023, it is stated that “the Naharlagun highway division has halted the highway work on the four-lane road between Itanagar and Banderdewa section of National Highway-415, Package-C, from Chainage KM 51+700 to KM 59+199, due to incessant rain in the past few days,” said the Circle Officer.

There is also a high risk of landslides and mudslides, posing a serious threat to human life and property, according to CO Toko Anu.

Therefore, in view of the road construction, heavy downpour, landslides, and mudslides on the under-construction stretch between Nirjuli and Karsingsa, heavy motor vehicles coming to Itanagar and Naharlagun via Banderdewa have been diverted through the Harmuty Gumto-Doimukh road from June 12 to July 12, as stated in the order.

All commuters, including those in light motor vehicles, two-wheelers, and others, are advised to remain cautious during nighttime drives due to landslides and sinking of roads caused by heavy monsoon rains, according to the order.

Commuters are also requested to bear with the inconvenience caused by the under-construction four-lane road between Papunallah and Banderdewa via Naharlagun, Nirjuli, and Karsingsa.
