Following the increase in Covid positive cases in ICR, the district administration in an order on July 22 has extended curfew from 3.00 PM to 5.00 AM daily from last Sunday till further order.

Sikom told the reporters that the public are much cooperative during the extended Curfew and the vehicular movement is very less. The police department is working as per the order issued by district administration, and we hope the public will cooperate with the police on duty, he said.

“The police force on duty is not creating any harassment against any individuals. We are allowing medical emergencies to visit hospitals, there is relaxation for people coming from far flung districts with such cases,” he said, adding that, however, people moving for unnecessary reasons are strictly dealt with.

He appealed to the public to follow the order issued by the district administration and also follow Covid appropriate behavior.

“Besides, the police department is also ensuring social distancing, wearing of masks, and closure of shops at times along with the Motor Vehicle checking,” he added.

The curfew and lockdown are being imposed by the administration and government to restrict the movement of the general public and to reduce the chain of infection and spread of coronavirus and pave the way for the medical fraternity to make necessary arrangements and management in the fight against the Covid 19.
