ACF to hold statewide protest rally over Tawang church issue on June 18

ITANAGAR, Jun 03 : Retreating their demands to resolve the Tawang church issues, the Arunachal Christian Forum (ACF) on Friday announced to hold a statewide protest rally on 18 June for a solution.

Addressing the media person here at Arunachal Press Club (APC), president ACF, Toko Teki said that the ACF has been requesting the state government for a peaceful solution of the issues.

The three member’s fact finding Committee headed by Forest & Environment minister Mama Natung along with Advisor to Home, Nyamar Karbak and Labour Board chairman, Nyato Dukam as a member committee has also recently submitted its report to the chief minister Pema Khandu but report is being kept secretly which need to be published, he added.

Earlier, seeking the details of the report, ACF on 18 May last threatened to initiate statewide democratic stir, if their demand is not met at the earliest.

The ACF claimed that the Christian Revival church in Tawang was established in 1999 and a request for land allotment for the church had been made to the chief minister’s office in 2003 but the file is missing from the concerned authorities.

According to the ACF, on the basis of the FIR lodged by the district land revenue & survey officer, Tawang Revival church pastor Joseph Singhi was arrested by Tawang police on 6 October 2020, which was the cause of the Tawang church issue fiasco.
