AARTIAA demanded transfer of Lower Subansiri DC, served 7 days ultimatum, threatened to launch democratic movement

ITANAGAR, Dec 08 : Seeking immediate posting of incumbent Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bamin Nime and posting of IAS cadre at Ziro in Lower Subansiri district, the All Arunachal RTI Activist Association (AARTIAA) on Thursday served a  seven days ultimatum to the state government to address the demand.

The present DC Nime has misused his power against the information seekers by violating the RTI Act 2005, said president AARTIAA Tania June during a press conference at APC.

Instead of furnishing the required information pertaining to various developmental funds, DC has asked them to provide their information such as the organisation’s registration number, by laws and list of its members, address he added.

“Under the RTI Act 2005, there are no provisions/guidelines asking documents from the information seekers,” said Tania. Adding the DC has less knowledge about the RTI Act thus reflecting his incompetency to be in the post.

Stating adamant DC’s action is a serious concern for the common public who visit the office, AARTIAA also demanded the state government to post a people’s friendly DC at Ziro at the earliest.

Informing, on 9 November last the association had already submitted a memorandum to the state government for immediate transfer of DC but no action was initiated, AARTIAA said this time they would not tolerate any lackadaisical attitude from state government. Rather initiate rigorous democratic movement if the demand is not met within the stipulated period of time, cautioned AARTIAA.
