AAPSU supported the statement of Khandu and Rijiju on Chakma-Hajong issue

ITANAGAR, AUG 25: The All Arunachal Pradesh students union (AAPSU) on Wednesday has supported and backed the statement of Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Union Cabinet Minister Kiren Rijiju recently on chakma-Hajong issue.

Addressing a press conference here at Arunachal Press Club (APC) on Wednesday afternoon, AAPSU general secretary Tobom Dai said it was a bold statement and such a step to be taken to resolve the vexed issue which has been pending for years together.

Everyone wants a logical concoction and amicable solution to the Chakma-Hajong issue and Dai said that it was a bold decision made by the Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Union Minister for Law & Justice.

AAPSU appealed to the union home minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister to clear things in the most suitable way so that the issue is resolved once for all. When the government of Arunachal Pradesh and Government of India is trying for a logical conclusion and in such time the chakma-hajong brother should understand it and try to take this opportunity for a logical conclusion to become an Indian citizen and get a permanent resident and address. He said.

With full humanity the union appealed to the Union Home minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strengthen the statement of the Union Minister Law & Justice and state government led by Pema Khandu and bring a logical conclusion on the issue. Dai added.

Here in the state there are so many acts where the non APST are not allowed to own land and permanent settlement and they are required Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter the state as per law of the land. There are several other laws, rules and regulations under the constitution of India guaranteed to the indigenous people of the state. Said AAPSU President Hawa Bagang.

Everybody should respect the constitution and rule of law, it would be better if they also come to a logical conclusion as there may be a proper system for it with all facilities. He said.

We have witnessed law and order in the chakma settlement area on several occasions and their population is increasing rapidly and it has outnumbered the local indigenous people of the area. He said.

Bagang said that a chakma leader in social media making propaganda is not good. Most of the chakma leaders want a permanent solution which should be a welcome step and everyone wants a permanent solution of any long pending issue. He said.

AAPU will always stand for protection of the state and its people. The state govt and union Minister Rijiju should fully cooperate and support for a permanent solution. He suggested the chakma leaders not to provoke the issue but work for a peaceful solution so that the vexed issue is resolved.

He requested the state govt to continue the committee for proper facility and amicable, peaceful and permanent solution. He said.

The issue has not been solved since 1964 and a logical solution is the need of the hour. He added.
