ITANAGAR, MAY 23 ; A school going girl aged around 16 years has been drowned in Nyapin, search operation continues to locate the body, Kurung Kumey police appeal the people living downstream to help to locate the body.
The Kurung Kumey Superintendent of Police Minjom Ete said that the girl of Class-X of Government Higher Secondary School, Nyapin namely Gomlar Nirin daughter of Tagom Nirin of Upper Subansiri district has been drowned in river behind GHSS Compound on Sunday morning when she went to the river to collect water. As per information she was drowned in Panui river at around 10.30 -11.00 hrs on Sunday. The information was received at around 11.45 at Nyapin PS. SP said.
Search operation was initiated with the help of several local teams and student and teaching fraternity, general public and police in full swing. Messages have been sent to all local police station areas of Kurung Kumey and Kra Daadi district. As of now no report of a body has been received. SP added.
Nirin is the youngest sister of Govt. Higher Secondary School TGT (English) Lizen Nirin. The sources said.
Meanwhile, Kra Daadi district Superintendent of Police and Lower Subansir SP Incharge Dusu Kaling inform that he has also received the message and it has been shared with the GBs and local leaders of the respective area of downstream of all the rivers coming from Nyapin and Kurung Kumey district to remain alert and in case of any new development information need to shared to the administration immediately. SP said.
