Career Counselling-cum-Induction Programme Successfully Organised at DNGC

An insightful Career Counselling-cum-Induction Programme took place today at the Conference Hall of Dera Natung Government College, (DNGC), Itanagar in collaboration with the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Itanagar. The event was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of DNGC and the NIELIT Study Centre, aiming to guide students towards promising career paths.

The programme was honoured by the presence of Dr. M.Q. Khan, Principal of DNGC, who graced the event as the Chief Guest. Accompanying him were two esteemed resource persons from NIELIT Itanagar: Anup Kumar, Scientist D, and Anan Tyring, Junior Assistant. The coordination of the event was skillfully handled by Mr. Botem Moyong, Assistant Professor of Mathematics at DNGC, who is also the coordinator of the NIELIT Study Centre.

The event drew the attendance of renowned faculty members from DNGC, two Computer Training Instructors from NIELIT, and approximately 160 students. Among the attendees were 8 NCC cadets, 50 NSS volunteers, 80 newly inducted students of the Associate Data Entry Operator course, and students from various departments of DNGC.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome note delivered by Mr. Botem Moyong, who shed light on the NIELIT Study Centre at DNGC. He urged students to actively participate in the wide range of courses offered by NIELIT at no cost. Additionally, he encouraged them to spread the word among their peers and relatives, emphasising the valuable skills that can be acquired through the NIELIT Study Centre. Mr. Moyong highlighted the successful training of numerous students by the NIELIT Study Centre in collaboration with NIELIT Itanagar, in courses such as Computer Applications Accounting & Publishing (CAAP), Certified Computer Applications Accounting & Publishing Assistant (CCAAPA), CCC, and Associate Data Entry Operator.

Anan Tyring, Junior Assistant at NIELIT Itanagar, delivered a comprehensive overview of NIELIT and its diverse range of courses. He informed the students that Arunachal Pradesh currently houses three NIELIT centers, namely NIELIT Itanagar, NIELIT Pasighat, and NIELIT Tezu. Tyring talked about the various courses available at NIELIT, including C++, Python, IOT, CAA, and BPO.

The other resource person, Anup Kumar, Scientist D at NIELIT Itanagar, shared his valuable knowledge and insights with the students. He spoke about NECB 2.0, a free certified computer course specially designed for the people of North East India. During his interaction with the students, he discussed formal and non-formal education, as well as short-term and long-term courses.

Dr. M.Q. Khan, Principal of DNGC, delivered an engaging speech as the Chief Guest. He elaborated on the process of choosing a career, the various career opportunities available, and how to prepare for competitive examinations. Dr. Khan emphasised the importance of values and morals in building a strong character, urging students to embrace qualities such as honesty, modesty, discipline, compassion, courage, forgiveness, positivity, and happiness. He further encouraged students to shield themselves from distractions and negative influences in order to achieve their goals and turn their dreams into reality. Dr. Khan also stressed the significance of NIELIT and urged students to make the most of its offerings. He said, “Today, nothing is possible without computer and only joining the course is not enough rather one has to learn and develop the computer skill practically”.

The event concluded on a positive note with Opet Jamoh, Computer Training Instructor at NIELIT, proposing the vote of thanks. The attendees then had an opportunity to capture memories through a group photo session.

Dr. M.Q. Khan, Principal of DNGC, expressed his sincere appreciation to all the participants and extended his heartfelt gratitude for their presence. He commended the efforts of Botem Moyong, the coordinator, for the remarkable success of the Career Counselling-cum-Induction programme. Dr. Khan acknowledged the valuable contributions made by everyone involved in organizing and executing the event, emphasizing the significance of such initiatives in guiding students towards a prosperous future.
