One day orientation training cum workshop on climate change and human health held at Tawang.

TAWANG, APRIL 13 : One Day Orientation training-cum-Workshop on NPCCHH (National programme  for climate change and Human health) was successfully conducted at KDS Conference Hall of District Hospital Tawang all the  Medical Officers, HWOs,NGOs and Other stakeholders  of the district takes part.

Speaking on the occasion DC i/c Shri Lobsang Tsering (ADC, Hq Tawang) emphasized understanding the motto of Sustainable Development and Pakke Declaration. Dr Sangey Thinley, District programme officer(NPCCHH) gave technical presentation on climate change and its impact on  human health. He emphasized more on bringing awareness in every levels of society regarding air, water and soil pollution which ultimately hampering the human health. The contribution from every individual in making the environment clean is the need of the hour.

Dr. Wangdi Lama,DMO asked the participants to be responsible at individual level and how the children can be made an integral part of nature conservation. Dr N.Namshum, MS, District Hospital Tawang, emphasized on reducing carbon footprint at individual level and  start educating people around us. TMES Member Dr. Sang Khandu (SVO) spoke on the importance of sustainable ecosystem, plastic menace around the township and to encourage waste segregation at individual level. He also spoke about the contribution of livestock to global warming and other agricultural practices contributing to global warming. 

President of Human Rights First an NGO Pema Chewang spoke on the responsibilities of NGO in mitigating climate change and encouraged everyone to adopt healthy lifestyles. He spoke about the importance of trees in our surroundings. Gombu Tsering Thungon (district epidemiologist) gave an overview on Climate Change and its impact at global level and impact on humans.
