Bridge over Borum-Naharlagun will be completed in August: Techi Kaso

NAHARLAGUN, 17 Mar: Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso along with Borum ZPM Tok Tama and officials of PWD visited Borum to review the progress of arch bridge over Pachin river which once completed will connect Borum and Naharlagun helipad. The 90 metre long double lane bridge is being taken up at the cost of Rs 20 crore.

Briefing the media, Tana Nekam Tara, Executive engineer, Naharlagun PWD division informed that two steel arches have finally been joined.

“We have managed to achieve the target of joining the two arches. This was the most difficult part of the project. After this decking and RCC slab will be taken up. The bridge will be ready within the next two months,” said EE Nekam.

However, he said there is a proposal to construct an approach road to bridge from Lekhi onwards. “This is going to take some time but we will complete the approach road before August. Once completed it will significantly ease traffic on NH 415 and will also help in construction of a four lane highway,” he added.

Approach road from Lekhi to Helipad bridge will be completed before August

The Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso informed the media that he daily inspects the progress of the bridge. “People are suffering due to traffic congestion at Naharlagun and I share their pain. We are working hard to complete the bridge and approach the road before August 15,” said Kaso. He claimed that enough manpower and machinery has been deployed for the construction of the bridge.

Further he said that Chief Minister Pema Khandu and DCM Chowna Mein are trying their best to speed up development projects across the state including in the capital. 

“The chemistry between CM and DCM is helping the state including the capital region. If all the projects are properly implemented and fund properly utilized, the face of Itanagar capital region will change in the next few years,” added Kaso.

We will try to complete the bridge and other works before August and hope the traffic will be allowed before August 15 till such time the people and commuters need to have patience. Kaso further said.

Borum ZPM Tok Tama lauded the effort of local MLA and said the most beneficial will be the people of Borum Zila parishad segment of its half population reside on either side of river Pachin and the people of capital complex and Specially the denizens of Naharlagun township.
