Security forces rescue abducted in Arunachal’s Changlang

CHANGLANG, Mar 27: A person who had been kidnapped on Saturday allegedly by cadres of the NSCN-IM  was rescued by security forces today and reunited with his family.

Two minors allegedly NSCN-IM members were apprehended and arms and ammunition recovered from their possession.

Mihin Gambo, Superintendent of Police Changlang said that the relentless and swift joint efforts of security forces, Changlang Police and Assam Police led to the timely rescue of the abducted and apprehension of two cadres and recovery of arms and ammunition.

As per the report on March 26  a missing report of one individual was registered at Namtok PS. The matter was immediately shared with 18 Garhwal Rifles and Assam Police with directions to look out in their areas.

In the  afternoon, information was received that the missing person had been traced by 18 Garhwal and Assam Police. Further, it was informed that the missing person was allegedly abducted by two minors, allegedly members of NSCN-IM.

Based on disclosure of the abductors, a joint operation of 18 Garhwal, Changlang police and Assam Police was launched at a specific location in Phangsum village in Namtok circle and a huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the place.

Two HK assault rifles, three magazines, 283 rounds of ammunition, two pouches , two IEDs, three wire cables, one hand grenade, three mobiles, two wallets, two voter cards, an Aadhar card, and two ATM cards were found by the police.

The Changlang police and security forces reunited the rescued individual safely with his family members at Changlang.
