Foundation Stone Laid for 120-Bed Hostel and Integrated Sports Training Centre in Itanagar

Itanagar, 14th July: Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India, laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art Hostel-cum-Integrated Sports Training Centre today in Itanagar. The ceremony took place in the presence of Mama Natung, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh.

During the event, Kiren Rijiju and Mama Natung addressed the gathering, which included spokespersons and officials involved in the project. Sujata Chaturvedi, Secretary (Sports), Govt. of India, joined the ceremony virtually and also delivered a speech.

The proposed Hostel-cum-Integrated Sports Training Centre will provide various facilities, including Sports Sciences, an Administrative Office, an Indoor Hall for Boxing, Wushu, and Weightlifting, a Recovery Centre, a Dining Hall, and 40 triple occupancy rooms (20 for boys and 20 for girls). The project is estimated to cost 27.73 Crore and has been assigned to Uttar Pradesh Project Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for construction. The Project Manager of UPPCL was also present at the ceremony.

This initiative aims to enhance sports infrastructure and promote sports activities in the region. The integrated training center will serve as a hub for athletes and provide them with world-class facilities to hone their skills and abilities.

The foundation stone laying ceremony marked the beginning of a significant development that will contribute to the growth of sports and youth development in Arunachal Pradesh. With the support of the government, such initiatives are expected to create opportunities for budding athletes and propel the state towards sporting excellence.
