PASIGHAT, Oct 3 – The District and Sessions Court of Pasighat has convicted Brinar Pait, a retired sub-inspector of the Arunachal Pradesh Police, for sexually assaulting his domestic help. Pait has been sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment under Section 8 of the Protection of Child against Sexual Offences Act.
The horrifying ordeal endured by the victim-survivor began in 2012 when she started living with Pait as a domestic help after the tragic loss of her parents. The convict subjected her to repeated sexual assaults over the years.
Reports indicate that Pait used threats, including brandishing a pistol, to coerce the victim-survivor into silence, forbidding her from disclosing the incidents to his wife or anyone else. Desperate to escape her torment, the victim-survivor finally managed to flee from Pait’s residence on June 29, 2022. She was subsequently located by the police on June 30, 2022, leading to the lodging of an FIR.
