YUPIA, Mar 9: The Papum Pare district bar association has alleged that the district court complex here is facing an acute shortage of drinking water. Briefing press here on Wednesday Nabam Regum informed that due to lack of proper water supply everyone including lawyers, court officials, and visitors are facing difficulties.
“Every day hundreds of people visit court complex. There is no water supply and people cant use the toilet. This has become a major problem,” said Regum. Further, he informed that Itanagar high court will soon shift to Yupia and function from there till the permanent building is ready at Naharlagun.
“The situation is going to get worse once the high court shifts. We appeal to state government to immediately resolve water crisis within next 7 days,” he added.
The executive engineer PHED Yupia division Tadar Ukap informed the press that there is a need for a new dedicate line to meet the needs of the high court complex immediatel.
“The consumer is increasing day by day in Yupia area. The existing is not able to meet the growing demand. There is a need for a dedicated water supply line for the court premises and accordingly, we are ready for a proposal in this regard,” said EE Tadar Ukap.
Further bar association stated that due to lack of availability of canteen and public convenience in the court premises the visitors and lawyers are facing a lot of issues.
He also urged the state government to pay public prosecutors should be paid on time.
Referring to increase of cases in the Yupia Court complex, Regum said that there is an urgent need of one additional session court, separate court for civil and criminal cases as thousand cases are still there which need to cleared soon after proper hearing and due to non separation the judges who have to concentrate their full time and they may feel stress due to overloaded cases in various courts. He said.
There is also a need of one more judicial magistrate 1st class at Yupia to clear hundreds of pending cases and daily upcoming cases in dozens from 10 police stations of capital complex and it is a difficult for a single judge to handle a huge growing numbers of cases of capital complex. He said.
A new problems has been coming up with entry of private vehicle sin the court campus. Hundreds of vehicle are being parked haphazardly creating chaos for parking of vehicle for the court staffs, lawyers, judges and the police and prison escorting UTPs, and others including accuse and victims etc so there is an immediate need for regulation of parking of vehicle in the campus and urge upon the authority concern to take care.
We have recently submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and hope that the state government without wasting time may take up the issue for immediate resolution so that the inconveniences and difficulties and problems are being resolved or else there is no option we may go for dharna to press our demands. Regum further said.
