ITANAGAR, Oct 20: The first ever state level senior and Junior for man and women including open catogery Tug of War championship will be held from 2nd December at Nyokum Lapang ground, Itanagar, organize by Arunachal Tug of War Association (ATWA) as state level competition.
Addressing the newsperson here at Arunachal Press club on Wednesday ATWA president NL Kamin said the motives of the Tug of war championship is to promote the Tug of war sports in state as like other games and sport and Tug of war game is also playing in national level, international level and even played in Olympic games earlier.
After formation of ATWA we trying to conduct activities in state and district level but recently a team from state had participated in Tug of War championship in national level.
ATWA is appellate with Tug of war federation India and state have no proper team for take participate for national level, so we have to prepare team from state after conducting in state level, he added.
We are expecting around 400 players from 14 affiliated district in senior, Junior of both men and women categories and also open and Mix categories for this championship, we will be allow only those district who are appellate with ATWA in senior and Junior categories. But there will be open for all in open categories, informed General secretary Dolang John Dui.
The age limits of junior category will be under 19 and for senior category will above 19,
And First prize will be Rs. 1lakhs and second runner up will be Rs. 50000/ for all categories and joining fee will be Rs. 10000/ for all categories.
The Tug of War is an old game and popularly played in several states of country and even in our state it is traditionally played and even on festival the tug of war is played.
Kamin further appeal the sports lovers to take the advantage of the championship and also visit the place to enjoy the games being played by various team of the state.
