Tragic Train Accident Claims Life of 16-Year-Old Boy in Doimukh

ITANAGAR, JUNE 19: A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday morning in Doimukh, Papum Pare district, when 16-year-old Taw Agung was hit by a running train. Despite being rushed to TRIHMS in Naharlagun in critical condition, he succumbed to his injuries.

Superintendent of Police Taru Gusar confirmed the incident, expressing deep sorrow over the loss. “It is very disheartening when such accidents happen, where precious lives are lost. These incidents can be prevented if everyone remains alert,” said SP Gusar.

The police received a call from a railway staff member around 8:30 AM, informing them of the accident. A police team immediately responded, locating the accident site. Upon inquiry at the Community Health Center (CHC) in Doimukh, it was confirmed that Taw Agung had been transferred to TRIHMS in serious condition.

Doctors at TRIHMS declared Taw Agung brought dead. The police conducted an inquest, drew a sketch map, and recorded statements from the deceased’s family. The body was subsequently handed over to the family for the last rites.

SP Gusar urged residents, especially those living near railway tracks in Doimukh and surrounding areas, to avoid jogging or walking along the tracks to prevent such tragic accidents.

Taw Agung was a dedicated student at Government Higher Secondary School in Doimukh and a resident of Silsango village. His untimely death near the Kolma railway track has left the community in mourning.
