Manoj Singh || DEOMALI, JULY 16 ; The Wangcha Rajkumar Government College (WRGC), Deomali in Tirap district which was established in 1997 cries for facilities such as separate boys hostel, separate for laying outdoor and indoor games, separate academic & administrative block and functioning of education department.
There is no science stream even if the college has been established for last 26 years, the college has a single bus which in bad shape, no proper boundary wall, no proper accommodation for boys and staffs with lack of sufficient manpower the college is functioning is matter of great concern.
The college that caters more than 700 students was in dire need of separate boys hostel including proper and smooth functioning of Commerce Department, said principal Dr. Monshi Tayeng.
As of now boys hostel is running with the intake capacity of 25 students, which become a major problems for the students coming from far flung areas, which to be upgraded to 50 seats, he added.
Apart from boys hostel, 50 bedded girls hostel is also yet to be made functionalize which has almost been completed ,said Tayeng.
“Some students are unable to effort rent fees, therefore I have requested the concerned department to sanctioned a 50 bedded hostel for boys, ” Said Tayeng, adding that to encourage games & sports activities college required a proper play ground. A half constructed play ground is there which need to be completed as earlier we have to organsie our annual day in other places of the town due to absence of full pledge playground and cultural place. However the auditorium hall is also nearing completion. He added. .
The principal further went onto stated that College also need staff quarters and new bus for smooth functioning of the college. The teaching faculty has been somehow arrayed through guest faculty but if regular faculty is available many problem should be resolved.
As the college are facing land encroachment due to absence of proper demarcation of wall, he assured to solve the encroachment issues, so that to protect the government’s land. The wall on front side has been constructed but still lots to be done as land encroachment issue is there. He said.
Stating WRGC Deomali is the lone college for Tirap and Changlang district, Principal informed that a representation has been submitted to the education department to initiate a commerce stream at school standard, so that students can pursue commerce subject in college level. At present due to which the strength of the students of commerce are very less. He said..
Since, he is posted in the college he is managing with his own sources to celebrate the college week with the help of other faculties members, however the support of the faculty, students union and locale leader including the local MLA and PHED Minister. informed principal.
Other than said facilities, the college approach road is also needs government’s attention for many years.
The college is a renowned institution of higher learning which offers seven courses that are degree in full time mode including the computer courses. .
The Namsang MLA and Minister PHED Wangki Lowang when contacted assured to take up all the issue of the college at the appropriate level for consideration in phase manner.
At present the auditorium hall is in progress, 50 bedded girls hostel is completed, the boundary wall in front side is completed in phase-I, digital library is being initiated, gest faculty has been arranged to make stop gap of teaching faculty. The education department will take up the issue of college in phase manner and assumed to support and extend necessary help o case emergency.
