Yachuli, 31st July:The renovation and modernization of Mai MHS Ph-II (2 x 500 kW) at Mai village under Yachuli Circle was inaugurated by the Minister, Education, Cultural Affairs & Dept. of Indigenous Affairs Er. Taba Tedir today at Mai.
Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Minister Taba Tedir appreciated the efforts of Hydro power department for restoring the age old hydel power which was almost lying defunct for the last 22years. He assured to provide a transformer which will help in regular supply of power in Mai village.
“With regular supply of electricity, other amenities which require power will also be slowly but steadily constructed for Mai village,” Er. Tedir added while assuring to set up a Primary Health Center at Mai.
Er. Jummar Kamdak, Chief Engineer (WZ), Dept. of Hydro Power Development presented a brief report on the current status and the history of the hydel. He also assured to extend all possible assistance for the growth of Mai hydel power.
” Mai MHS Ph – II (2 x 500 kW) remained dyfunct since February 1999. Although its renovation & modernization works commenced in 2012, the work remained stalled due to fund crunches and miscommunications.However, it is due to the strong political will of the current MLA Er.Taba Tedir , the defunct hydel could be revived and put under commercial operation today after a gap of 22 years, despite various hurdles owing to COVID-19 pandemic. ” He added.
Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Smti Somcha Lowang and Lower Subansiri District Zilla Parishad Chairperson Smti Likha Sangchhore also spoke on the occasion.
As of now only one unit of 500 kW has been revived and put under commercial operation on a trial basis. After observing it’s functioning, necessary steps shall be taken up for reviving the other unit of 500 kW.
It is worth mentioning here that last year too, due to the initiative of local legislator cum Hon’ble Minister, Education, Cultural Affairs & Dept. of Indigenous Affairs Er. Taba Tedir, the defunct Tago SHP (3 x 1500 kW) located near Yazali was revived.
A host of officers and public leaders, viz.,SE DHPD Er. Rubu Opo, EE DHPD Er. Lod Nakku, EE DoP Er. Jerang, DVO Shri Hano Tama, Yazali ZPM also attended the programme.
