Shibu George homicide case: two co-accused apprehended in West Bengal

ITANAGAR, APRIL 5: Two co-accused have been apprehended in the Police headquarter (PHQ), Director General of Police (DGP) Staff officer (SO) Shibu George homicide case of Chimpu police station area of city.

Capital SP Jimmy Chiram inform that two persons has been apprehended in connection with the murder case of Shibu George from West Bengal with the help of West Bengal police. They were apprehended from Barrackpore, North 24 Pargana district and they are being brought to the state capital and will be interrogated. He said.

As of now one person has already been arrested from North Lakhimpur district, Assam earlier who is suspected to be the main accused  and two apprehended in West Bengal which include a total of three.  Said SP.

Meanwhile, PHQ PRO R. R. Singh inform in a message has said that the two person apprehended in Barrakpore, West Bengal are co-accused in the Shibu murder case of Chimpu police station. Itanagar vide case no-18/22 u/s-302/201 IPC  All accused now apprehended. PRO added.

All details of electronic and biological evidence are being gathered and details of investigation and progress in the case will be informed soon. SP (SIT & PRO) R. R. Singh further said.

It is to mention that Shibu George was working as Sub-Inspector in IRBn and was attached at PHQ as SO to DGP and was staying in a govt accommodation located at SRPL area of Chandannagar around two hundred metre from the PHQ.

As per information the Special Investigation team (SIT) of PHQ and officers from other police stations of the capital complex including Itanagar police station and Naharlagun police station have also supported the investigation.

It is stated that Shibu George, 52-year-old was found murdered in his official quarters in SRPL Colony here last Friday late evening at around 10-12 PM.

“The main accused and George knew each other who were involved in financial transaction business. The financial transaction issue has led to the murder of the George” the sources said.

The trio had fled from Itanagar immediately after committing the crime and now the police have been able to apprehend and arrest them by putting lots of effort with Assam and West Bengal police.
