Select shops to open Monday and Tuesday

ITANAGAR, 16 May: The deputy commissioner Itanagar capital region (ICR) Talo Potom has informed that few select shops selling groceries and vegetables will remain open on Monday and Tuesday. Briefing the press here on Sunday he said these shops have been identified after discussion with Mayor, deputy Mayor, Corporators, Panchayat leaders, etc.

The DC said shopkeepers will have to wear masks and gloves and should ensure that social distancing is maintained.

“People should not crowd. I assure you all that we will again open the shops in the coming days if the situation needs,” said Potom. The DC also warned that strict action will be taken against those who sell items above MRP.

“If we get a complaint strict action will be taken. We will take it very seriously. People should complain to us if any shopkeepers indulge in illegal practice,” he said.

Further DC Potom urged citizens to avail online service of delivery as much as possible and avoid going out.

“Only those who test negative for Covid 19 are being allowed to do home delivery. We are going to give vaccines on priority to them. Therefore, people should not worry about getting infection from delivery service,” said DC.

He also expressed serious concern over people using medical cases as pretext to go out. “Unfortunately those who are going to hospital in serious cases have to face trouble as we have to strictly check everyone because of some people who are misusing medical cases,” added Potom.
