Itanagar, June 18: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Capital Itanagar has announced the immediate closure of the road from Nirjuli to Banderdewa due to severe damage caused by continuous rainfall in the Karsingsa area. A portion of the road has slid down, and a culvert has been washed away, rendering the route impassable.

After a thorough site inspection by the District Administration, Police, and the Highway Department, it has been decided to close the affected road segment and divert all traffic via Gumto. This closure will remain in effect until the culvert and road are fully restored by the Highway Department.

Deputy Commissioner Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta, IAS, has instructed the deployment of police personnel to manage the traffic diversion. The Executive Engineer of the PWD, Naharlagun Highway Division, Nirjuli, is also directed to place banners at key entry points to inform commuters of the road closure and the new route.

Drivers are urged to adhere to the diversion through Gumto to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow during the repair work.
