ITANAGAR, Feb 24: A day after the leakage of the Social Science question paper of the annual examination of Class VIII in West Kameng district, the Science question paper of Class VIII, held on Thursday, was also reported to have leaked prior to the exam in the same district.
In connection with the leakage of the Science question paper, the Principal of a school in West Kameng was detained on the basis of allegation leveled by a student and the exam has been declared cancelled.
Following the leakage of the question paper, Otem Tayeng, Director of Elementary Education-cum-Chairman, Arunachal Pradesh State Board Examination (APSBE), in a WT message to the DDSEs said: “It is regretted to inform to all the DDSEs of the districts that the report of leakage of question paper of Science subject also reported from DDSE Bomdila, West Kameng.”
“This information was received at the State headquarters through WhatsApp at 3:30 pm on February 24, 2022. Hence, the Department of Education has decided not to evaluate Science paper of Class VIII, conducted today.”
“The same paper will be re-conducted along with Social science subject. The date of re-conduct shall be intimated in due course of time. All DDSEs are directed to intimate all the schools immediately,” Tayeng said in the message.
Meanwhile, West Kameng Superintendent of Police Bharat Reddy informed that a complaint was received from TN Tukshipa, BEO, Dirang on Thursday that one boy confessed to have received “question paper of Class VIII before the commencement of the exam”.
He informed that on the basis of an FIR (No 2/2022 u/s 420/120B), a case has been registered at Dirang Police Station and an investigation taken up by Sub-Inspector Sang Thinley.
“After questioning of the boy (name withheld) it was revealed that he received the question paper from Tezi Ramadasow, Principal, Dirang Valley Public School, a day prior to the exam,” the SP informed.
“The residence of the boy and the Principal’s office were searched and 2 mobile phones, which were used for sending the WhatsApp of the leaked paper, have been seized. Also, the hard copy, which was given to the boy by the Principal, has been seized,” the police officer added.
“The Principal has been detained for further questioning. Investigation is in progress,” Reddy further said.
