Over 10000 Pilgrims took holy dip at Parsuram Kund


TEZU: The Lohit District Administration has made adequate arrangement for successful conduct of holy dip.  Like every year, this year too on Makar Shankranti at Parsuram Kund, the DA has not left any stone unturned for the safety, security and overall arrangement for the holy dip.
Over10000 Pilgrims took part in the holy dip on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti on 14th and 15th January amidst COVID protocol.  
 “We have done our best at the ground level for smooth holy dip apprehending spike of COVID Unfortunately, sudden surge of COVID cases has completely dropped the turnout”, Marge Sora DC Lohit informs, this time COVID strikes early that badly affected the holy dip. We could see countable number of pilgrims in comparison to last year turnout, says the DC.  Main dip was on 14th and 15th Jan on Makar Shankranti and we witnessed satisfactory turned up.l Dharamsalla, resting place, accommodation are least in demand, road is in diminutive rush as compared to last year crowd.  The devotees, Sadhus and visitors are witnessed in negligible number this time due to sudden spike of COVID – 19 in rest of India and the state.
Over 2500 numbers of APP, APPBN and IRBN personnel are deployed to ensure security and safety oft the Pilgrims. We have seriously monitored the situation to control COVID spikes and without any untoward incident could manage the festivity”, says Ankit Kr Singh SP Lohit.
   
Every year, Parsuram Kund witnesses’ hassle & bustle of pilgrimages for holy dip during Makar Shankranti to ward off their sins as per beliefs of Hindu Mythology. Devotees from all over India including Bhutan and Nepal also visit for the dip.    
Volunteer from Arun Joyti, Wakro and NSS were also used to manage the devotees comfort for holy dip.   
With the COVID-19 situation being a major concern for the state and the Lohit district as well, the administration has also taken overall preparedness to deal with the pathogen.  The DA has ensured all arrangement and adherence of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) at the site.
