 NDRF retrieved the body of collegestudent from Noa-dihing river, Ngandam condole the death

ITANAGAR, APRIL 26:  The 12th Bn of NDRF of which one company based at Jorhat in Assam has been able to retrieved the body of 21 year college student Mankai wangpan, who was drowned in Nao-Dihing river near banka bridge, Mahadevpur, in Namsai on April 24 on Monday morning after a marathon search operation carried out with the help of locals police, locals residents and family members.

The NDRF official sources inform that since the whole day search operation on Sunday was futile but the operation was again resumed early morning on Monday from the incident site with the help of boats and deep divers the body was retrieved at about 6 am in the morning.

As per Mahadevpur police sources Mankai wangpan was drowned while bathing in Nao-Dihing river near banka bridge on Saturday afternoon at around 1.30 PM when he was bathing with his two friends.

The Mahadevpur PS OC Vijaya Kumar informed that the NDRF team was rushed to Mahadevpur from Dehemaji, Assam and reached Namsai same night at around 10 PM and search operation was started on Sunday and operation continued the whole day till late evening but could not find the body. He said.

The search operation was supported by locals residents, local police and family members and the team had searched approx 3 km downstream of Nao-Dihing river, but they couldn’t locate the body on Saturday. OC said.

On Monday morning the body was retrieved. He said.

A case of unnatural death has been registered at Mahadevpur police station vide u/s case no 2/2021 u/s-174 CrPc. Inquests were done and after the post mortem the body has been handed over to the family members for conducting the last rite at native village at Zedua village in Longding district. OC added.

Meanwhile, RWD & Science & Technology Minister Honchun Ngandam has condoled the death of a young boy who has been pursuing his bachelor degree 1st Semester at Bethanai college at Namsai.

 “ I on behalf of bereaved family members, villagers of Zedua and Wancho community as whole, I extend my thankfulness to the NDRF team headed by Inspector, Rakesh Kumar, the District Administration headed by R.K. Sharma, DC Namsai; the Police authority of Namsai; Search Operation headed by Sub-Inspector Vijay Kumar; Nok Longhee Na-am, EAC (DC Office) Namsai who is also an officer from Wancho community for all kind of guidance, Cooperation and helps’ He said.

He also thanks the Longding ZPM Jehai Wangsu from deceased’s village Zedua who led the villagers team at Namsai for joining search operation while thanks Namsai MLA Zingnu Namchoom for all cooperation and financial help jointly with District Administration, Namsai; all the local inhabitants and fishermen who took part in search operation in retrieving the body of the young body of his area.
