ITANAGAR, 13 AUG : The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports as a part of celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav-India@75 is organizing Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 throughout the country from 13th August to 2nd October, 2021.
Taking inspiration from the inaugural speech of the Prime Minister during the curtain raiser of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on 12th March last, the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports has conceptualized the event under the pillar of Actions and Resolves @75.
The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) called on a press conference here at Arunachal Press club (APC) today and informed that the said initiative was conceived last year in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic when social distancing became the new normal.
In order to keep the imperative need of fitness, Fit India Freedom Run was launched on the concept of virtual run i.e. ‘it can be run anywhere, anytime! You run a route of your choice, at a time that suits you,’ stressed NYKS.
In Arunachal Pradesh, the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is being held across 26 venues from 14th August to 2nd October, the key activities of Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 includes pledge, rendering of the National Anthem, Freedom Run, cultural functions at the venues, awareness among youth volunteer to participate and organize similar freedom runs in their villages.
Interested persons can register and upload their run on Fit India portal https://fitindia.gov.in and promote freedom to run on their social media channels with #Run4India and #AzadikaAmritMahotsav.
Last year during the first edition of the campaign, about 5 crore people from state/central departments and organizations including central armed forces, NGOs, private organizations, schools, individuals and youth clubs participated in the event and covered a total of 18 crore kms combined distance.
The activity is actually to create awareness among the youths and to motivate them to stay fit and remain healthy and also motivate others to maintain a healthy body and sound mind so that family, community and society remain fit and fine.
