Lower Subansiri’s dental surgeon Dr. Toko Papu passes away

NAHARLAGUN, Aug 27: Dr. Toko Papu, who was serving as the dental surgeon at the CHC, Yazali in Lower Subansiri district, today passed away at TRIHMS, Naharlagun after battling cancer.

Daughter of Toko Kach of Deed village in Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh, she was born on June 6, 1986.

The Indian Dental Association-Arunachal Pradesh State Branch has expressed “shock” at the dental surgeon’s sudden demise.

“It is with great sadness that we the members of Indian Dental Association-Arunachal Pradesh State Branch has learnt about the sudden demise of Dr. Toko Papu, dental surgeon, CHC, Yazali, on August 27, 2022 at TRIHMS Naharlagun, after battling cancer,” the IDA-Arunachal Pradesh State Branch said in a statement.

“We are deeply shocked and aggrieved to hear the tragic news,” it said.

Dr. Papu did her graduation from SRM Dental College, Chennai in Tamil Nadu in 2010 and her Orthodontic Residency Programme from Indian Institute of Orthodontics, Ahmedabad, Gujarat in 2012.

She was serving as a dental surgeon in CHC Yazali, from April 2017 till date.

“She was very proactive and hardworking officer, who worked beyond the call of duties. Her contributions in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic were outstanding,” the IDA state branch said.

She was also an active member of IDA-APSB and was actively doing social activities and programmes. The IDA-APSB members have deeply condoled her untimely demise and conveyed their heartfelt and sincere condolences to the bereaved family members.

“We pray to the Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul and for strength to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss,” it stated.

Meanwhile, Lower Subansiri unit of Arunachal Pradesh Doctors’ Association and the office of Lower Subansiri District Medical Officer, Ziro said it is deeply grieved over the demise of Dr Toko Papu.

She was a young and promising officer, it said in a condolence message.

“Dr. Papu was serving as a dental surgeon at Yazali Community Health Center,” said DMO Dr. Tage Kanno.

She was instrumental in starting the dental services in the facility after joining in June 2018, Kanno said.

“Dr. Papu was a dedicated and sincere officer. Her service during the COVID-19 pandemic was recognised by the Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner, Ziro with a Commendation Certificate. Above all, she was soft spoken with a compassionate heart and was loved by all,” the statement said.

They conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family.
