Landslide blocks NH-415 between Itanagar-Hollongi

ITANAGAR, MAY 17: The traffic was disrupted and even halted for a few hours due to a massive landslide on NH-415 between Itanagar-Hollongi road near the Greenfield entry point in Hollongi area.

Due to landslides and mudslides triggered by heavy rain there has been damage caused to the roads and its protection wall and drainage system on NH-415 between Itanagar-Hollongi. Even on an earlier occasion in last monsoon the damage caused due to heavy rainfall has created lots of hurdles for the commuters on the stretch and such damage has created smooth flow of the traffic on the highway between Itanagar and Hollongi which need immediate attention of the highway department and administration and state government.

The locals have apprehension that if the highway is not properly maintained and not properly renovated, repaired and restored there may be several accidents and witness loss of life.

The Hollongi Police incharge Makbol Hussain said that it is necessary that every commuters travelling on Hollongi-Itanagar road have to maintain alertness during the heavy rain and even otherwise as there has been several damages on the stretch.

He urged commuters to remain safe during the disaster by living away from vulnerable places and reaching safer places to save life and property.

Earlier during morning due to heavy landslides on the stretch two KM form Hollongi the traffic was deported but one side of the highway has been cleared for traffic and it would take a day to two to clear both sides. He said adding that the traffic movement on NH-52 was also disrupted due to heavy flooding in Gohpur township and in the afternoon the traffic for light vehicles was allowed and restoration work was going on and the movement for heavy vehicles would be allowed till late night or Wednesday.
