TEZU: Kurung Kumey lifted the 3rd under 17th girl’s State Level Subrato Mukherjee Cup Football Championship 2022 trophy by defeating East Kameng by 2-0 in the final match played at the Jubilee Ground here today.
Kurung Kumey Yumlum Tali Jersey No. 10 scored both the goal in the first half and put her team ahead and defended strongly the opponent East Kameng’s number of attempts to score goals but failed despite getting scoring opportunities. Kurung Kameng maintained their two-goal lead till the final whistle to clinch the title.
Earlier, addressing the closing ceremony Mutchu Mithi MLA Roing as Chief Guest said women have leapfrogged in several fields and in games & sports as well. “Sports have tremendous scope to make a career out of it, hard work, perseverance and a lot of ups and downs make one strong to succeed”, he advises. Guest of honour Marken Kadu Director of Secondary Education, Itanagar also informed players about the sports quota in services and advised them to avail the opportunities. He also appreciated the technical improvement in girls football and suggested the winning team practice regularly to participate at National Level Subroto Cup Championship to be played in New Delhi in the month of September next.
Over 20 girls Football team took active part from across the district of Arunachal. However in under 17 Boy’s, East Siang lifted the trophy by defeating West Siang. The tournament was kicked off on 24th Dec 2021 and concluded on 4th January 2022 which was organized by the Director of School Education, Itanagar with active support of Lohit District Administration.
