Heavy rains affect water supply at many areas in Itanagar Capital Region

NAHARLAGUN, May 17: Following incessant rains for the last several days, various water supply distribution lines of the twin township of Itanagar and Naharlagun in the Capital region have been snapped disrupting water supply.

This has been informed by Executive Engineer of the PHE & WS Division, Itanagar.

According to the EE, the water supply coming from Poma source through 450 mm DI pipe to the Capital township has stopped since Tuesday night.

“Due to continuous rainfall we could not able to move inside the jungle to assess the exact cause of the damage. However, efforts are made to locate the point of damage inside the jungle,” the EE stated.

The EE also mentioned that the various water supply distribution lines of the twin township of Itanagar and Naharlagun has been snapped disrupting water supply due to incessant rainfall since a week.

The EE said men and machines have been engaged at various damaged points to restore the lines.  

According to the EE, water supply to the Upper ESS-Sector, Donyi, Dokum Colony, F-Sector, F and G Sector, Doordarshan Colony, Donyi Polo School area, Gopur area, Chandranagar, Vivek Vihar, Dera Natung College area, BN Colony and Police Colony of Itanagar would remain affected till the restoration work is completed.In Naharlagun, the water supply to B-Sector, Helipad area, A-Sector, Papu Hill, Papu Nallah, Press Colony, Pachin Colony, Transport GM office area, Yupia Tinali, Barapani and Takar Colony would remain affected, the Executive Engineer informed.
