Governor Mishra, CM Khandu extend Dree greetings

Naharlagun, Jul 02: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) has extended his warm greetings to the people of the State in general and to Apatani brethren in particular on the happy occasion of Dree Festival. He expressed his hope that the festivity will usher-in good harvest, peace, prosperity and happiness for all.

In his message, the Governor said that the Dree festival showcases the unique and vibrant culture and traditions of the Apatani Tribe. During the festival, the Apatanis offer prayers for protection and prosperity of their people. On this occasion deities are also worshipped for invoking blessings to make the soil fertile and paddy plants not to go dry. This agriculture centric rituals based festival of the Apatani Tribe reflects their cultural identity and reinforces the splendid fabric of the community, he said.

The Governor earnestly appealed to the informed elders and knowledgeable men and women of the community to promote self-esteem in their ethnicity and customs and preserve it for the posterity

On this joyous event, I offer my prayers to Danyi Piillo to invoke the Dree spirit amongst the people for the well being of mankind, the Governor said in his message.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pema Khandu today extended his warmest greetings to the Apatani community on the joyous occasion of Dree festival. 

Conveying his deep sense of appreciation to the community for safeguarding and preserving their rich culture and tradition, the Chief Minister expressed happiness that the elders in the community have been playing a pivotal role in successfully passing it to the younger generation. 

He offered his prayers to Almighty Tamu, Harniang, Metii and Danyi to bless mankind with happiness, prosperity and good health. He also wished for the Almighty to bless the community with a bountiful harvest.

The Chief Minister in his message hoped that the community would continue to work to preserve their ancient culture, tradition and heritage.
