GAWS to work for preservation of culture

 

 

 

NAHARLAGUN, Feb 08: The Gichik Abu Welfare Society (GAWS) today resolved to work for development of human resources, preservation of tradition and culture of tribal society and abolition of social evils.

The GAWS in the two days IXth general conference of Gichik clan at Dree ground today resolved to work for the overall development of the community and society at large after a marathon discussion by senior and expert members on various issues confronting the community.

GAWS president Gichik Tachu said that due to Covid pandemic there had been a vast gap in all activities and several sectors — social, human resource development including the education and health which were lagging.

He added that there was a need to include NGOs, social and political leaders and likeminded people to work for promotion of human resource development in the tribal society so that the next generation does not hanker for government services and  can be self employed as well as provide employment to others.

There was discussion on social evils which include belief in black magic and superstition.

“We need to discard such beliefs and remain alert. We have to work for all round development of the community, area, district and state,” Tachu said.

We have also decided to promote games and sport and to support meritorious students in selective field who can work for strengthening of Gichik clan, Nyishi society and state as whole. Tachu further said.

Several programmes which included games and sports, literary activities, cultural competition were held during the two day conference and prizes were given away to the winning teams and individuals.

Social worker Thaji Gichak Kioji, All Arunachal Pradesh Goan Burah Welfare association president Gichik Lalin, organizing chairman Gichik Tana, GAWS leaders Gichik Tagum, Gichik Tari, Gichik Tami among others also addressed the gathering.
