Arunachal Pradesh inks pact with WWF to develop State biodiversity strategy & action plan

New Delhi; April 02: In a meeting presided over by Mama Natung, Minister, Environment & Forests, Sports & Youth Affairs, and Water Resources, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, it was decided that Arunachal Pradesh State Biodiversity Board (APSBB) in collaboration with WWF India will develop the State Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (SBSAP). 

An agreement between the two organisations was signed for the same. The SBSAP will align with the post 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework and Pakke declaration. The SBSAP will be developed through multi-stakeholder consultations and a participatory approach.

Natung stated “It is a big step ahead for Arunachal Pradesh to showcase its participatory conservation initiatives and develop an inclusive action plan to secure nature’s contribution to people. The plan will reflect the state and people’s aspirations for sustainable development.”

The meeting was attended by PCCF and Prl. Secy, R K Singh, Ravi Singh, CEO and SG, WWF India, Chairman State Biodiversity Board Tayek Goi, Member Secretary Koj Rinya and senior executives of WWF India.
