ITANAGAR, Mar 16:
A week-long media exposure tour of the working journalist of the state to the Dibang Valley district, organized by the Arunachal Press Club (APC) in collaboration with the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), with the theme ‘reaching out to the rural village’ came to an end today.
The tour was led by the Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) General Secretary Sonam Jelly, and accompanied by journalists from different media houses. This tour is a calendar event in which the working journalists of the state visit different parts of the state and at times other states too.
The purpose of the tour is to make young journalists aware of the issues and problems being faced by the people of the district. It included interaction with the villagers settled at the international border, to know issues related to various government schemes, and development, and most importantly to highlight the potential of tourism in the district.
The team left from the state capital, Itanagar on March 10 and reached Roing on the same day. Later, the team called upon the recently inducted executive members of the Idu-Mishmi Cultural and Literary Society (IMCLS) and interacted.
During the interaction, the journalist sought information and ideas from the members on various issues being faced by the people of the community, which needed to be highlighted. Also, the team gathered valuable information on the functioning of the society and most importantly how they are deeply rooted in their culture.
Team on the next day March 11 traveled to Anini, and had 2 days and 3-night stay at the spectacular Mishmi Hills Homestay, owned and operated by local entrepreneur Rezina Mihu and his spouse.
In the next 2 days, the team visited the Mipi valley and Dembuen valley, the last village in the district sharing the international border. While enjoying the spectacular landscape of the valley, the team also interacted with the locals from different villages, aspiring local entrepreneurs, nature tour guides, and progressive farmers, and visited other culturally and historically important places of the Idu-Mishi community.
Joho Tayo, a local nature guide from the Dibang Valley district guided the team to different places in the district, as well as shared untold stories of the places. At the same time, he also informed the increasing tourist flow in the district following the better road connectivity in the district.
Later on March 14, after almost 8 hours of driving back from Anini, the team reached Roing. The next day, the team visited Golden Pagoda at Namsai, and later departed for Itanagar.
