APLA reactivates COVID Control Room to help the needy

ITANAGAR, 26 April: The Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly (APLA) COVID Control Room has been reactivated on Monday to assist the Members to redress the issues of stranded workers and students of their respective Assembly Constituencies amid rising cases of global pandemic coronavirus.

The decision to reactivate the APLA COVID Control was taken during the video conference held on April 19 last under the chairmanship of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The Lok Sabha Speaker had suggested all the Presiding Officers to set up a Control Room in their respective Assembly Secretariats.

Overseeing the Control Room, Assembly Speaker P D Sona extended his gratitude and thankfulness to all the volunteers for their readiness to assist the Assembly.

Stating that APLA COVID Control did a remarkable job during the nationwide lockdown last year, the Speaker exuded hope that this year too the volunteers will dedicatedly work to help out the needy people.

Surge in the coronavirus cases across the country is very serious, the Speaker said adding that APLA Covid Control Room will assist the State Covid Control Room in its fight against the virus.

Asking the volunteers to be ready for any kind of situation as it will be a testing time for them too, the Speaker suggested that they should be patient while dealing with people in distress.

“Don’t get frustrated while dealing with people. Your patience will help you help others,” the Speaker said.
Since APLA Control will be sharing the burden of the State Covid Control Room, I suggest the volunteers be in constant touch with the State Control Room for help and assistance, the Speaker further said.

“Try to provide as much assistance as possible to the needy, and if it is undoable from your end request the State Control Room for help,” the Speaker suggested.

Hoping that the volunteers would dedicate themselves for the cause, the Speaker assured to extend all possible help from the Assembly as and when it is required.

Secretary APLA Kago Habung while appreciating the volunteers for turning up in large numbers  for the cause was also assured to extend help from his side.

“All possible Assistance would be extended from the Assembly,” he said while extending his best wishes to the team.

Earlier, Special Secretary to Speaker and Nodal Officer APLA COVID Control Pema Thongchi briefed the Speaker about the Control Room.
