Amit Shah inaugurates 22 completed projects in Arunachal

NAMSAI, MAY 22: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today inaugurated a total of 22 completed projects on the second day of his visit in Arunachal Pradesh.

While addressing a huge public gathering at the Multipurpose Cultural Complex in Namsai on Sunday, Shah lauded the double-engine government of Narendra Modi at the Centre and Pema Khandu in the State.

The Union Home Minister said things have completely changed in the last 8 years. “Changes are visible in almost all walks of life, right from road, transportation, education, health and infrastructure,” Shah claimed.

“Today is a historic day for the State as I have been able to inaugurate 22 completed projects worth Rs 436 crore and lay the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 350 crore while projects worth Rs 786 crore have been either completed or started,” Shah said.

“A total of 33,466 families and 800 Self Help Groups (SHGs) & NGOs have been benefited through various start-ups for which more than Rs 244 crore has been given away,” he said.

Stating that the law and order situation in the State and Northeast region is improving, the Union Home Minister said, “9,600 misguided youths have left the path of militancy and joined the mainstream.”

He said, “The State government under the leadership of Pema Khandu is doing its best in the State and the State’s annual Budget has been raised from Rs 12,000 crore to Rs 26,000 crore. The State’s GDP has also tripled to Rs 30,000 crore from Rs 10,000 crore.”

Shah termed Arunachal Pradesh as ‘jewel’ of the Indian union with its picturesque natural resources, greenery with diverse culture, tradition and languages.

“The geography of the State has vast potential to promote tourism which will enhance and increase the economy of the State,” he said.

He lauded the behaviour and habits of the people of State who always greet the people saying ‘Jai Hind’ which is deep-rooted patriotism and the people of other States should try to learn it”.

He visited the Parshuram Kund in Lohit district on Saturday where he laid the foundation of a 51-feet-bronze statue of sage Parshuram.

Shah said, “Parshuram Kund has immense potential to attract tourists across the globe. Within five years, it will become a major tourist hub of the country with a railway line connecting it. A survey is underway for the project.”

He hoped the tourism activities will enhance many-fold and boost the economy of eastern Arunachal.

Shah stated that the development in the State is on a fast track.

While referring to the target of around 2000 KM of road construction, he said this is an example of the rapid growth and development during the period of Modi government in the last 8 years.

The Home Minister informed that the Subansiri Lower Hydro Power Project will be operational by 2023.

The work of the Dibang Multipurpose Project will begin soon, he said.

The work of the railway line to Pasighat will begin soon, Shah said, adding, “The railway line will connect to Prasuram Kund and it will enhance the communication and transportation system of the State.”

Shah also inaugurated the first transit campus of the Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), headquartered at Gandhinagar in Gujarat, in Pasighat.

“The central government is giving due attention to the State and the double-engine government is working for fast development of the region,” Shah said.

Shah informed that PM Narendra Modi has directed his Cabinet that in every 15 days, one Minister of his Cabinet should be visiting any one of the states of the region and the PM himself has visited more than 50 times to the Northeast region while he himself has visited 14 times.

Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju, Arunachal East MP Tapir Gao, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Chief Secretary in-charge Kaling Tayeng also address the gathering.

The CM in his address said the Greenfield Airport at Hollongi will be made operational by August and appealed to the central government for renaming of the Airport as ‘Donyi Polo Airport’ and a proposal in this regard will be sent soon.Cabinet Ministers Bamang Felix, Taba Tedir, Nakap Nalo, Tage Taki, Honchun Ngandam, Wangki Lowang, Alo Libang, State BJP president and Pakke Kessang MLA Biyram Wahge, lawmakers Dasanglu Pul, J Ete Deori, Karikho Kri, Tanpho Wangnaw, senior officers of the State government and district administration, public leaders, social workers, party leaders, NGO leaders, SHG workers, GBs and others were present on the occasion.
