Briefing media persons here on Thursday, Gao said he recently met the family members of Pullom at Pasighat in East Siang district and assured them to extend all kind of help.

“I also raised the matter in the Parliament and hope the matter is being pursued at the highest level to know his whereabouts,” Gao said.

“I met the family members (of Tapor Pullom) recently. Earlier, they had no idea how to pursue the matter. Only after the release of Miram Taron, a youth from the Upper Siang district, they have seen a ray of hope,” said Gao.

He informed that he has written to the Prime Minister, Defence Minister, Home Minister and the External Affairs Minister seeking early release of Tapor Pullom.
“Defence Minister Rajnath Singh personally called me and assured me to look into it. Diplomatic ways to try to figure out exactly what happened to Pullom have started. All agencies are working together in this regard. Hopefully, we will find an answer soon and the family will know about his fate,” said MP Gao.

He said such kind of incident of people from both India and China getting arrested along the LAC by their respective armies will take place in the future too.
“This type of incident will happen in the future too as the boundary is not properly demarcated. People from both sides go for hunting and collection of herbal plants along the LAC. I request the Indian Army to raise this issue during the flag meeting with the PLA at Bumla in Tawang and Kibithoo in Anjaw,” he said.

Stating that such people should not be arrested, Gao said they should be released immediately if detected.

Meanwhile, the Home department of Arunachal Pradesh has written to the Deputy Commissioners of West Siang and Shi-Yomi districts seeking details of the incident and efforts are being made to trace out Tapor Pullom, Gao further informed.
