AEKDSU demands speedy investigation of Seppa-Chayang Tajo road scam

ITANAGAR, The All East Kameng District Students’ Union (AEKDSU) has demanded of the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) for a more efficient and speedy probe into the Seppa to Chayang Tajo road scam case.

In a press conference held here at Arunachal press club (APC) on Thursday, AEKDSU president, Chakang Yangda alleged that the SIC’s investigation in the case is inadequate, as the cell has made just 4 arrests regarding the case and is yet to file a charge sheet regarding the same.

The general public of the concerned area faces hardships everyday due to the adverse conditions of the road, which will only worsen in the rainy seasons, added Yangda.

After the SIC registered the case of Seppa-Chyangtajo road scam, during his last visit to the district by road, CM Pema Khandu himself admitted that the condition of the road is worse than he anticipated, informed Yangda is a matter of great concern and accordingly the SIC should have acted swiftly. 

AEKDSU general secretary, informed that despite being one of the oldest Nyishi inhabited districts, East Kameng has been constantly been neglected by the government, elite societies and pressure groups alike.

AEKDSU suggested that the legislators of the four assembly constituency of East Kameng to come forward and take responsibilities for the construction of road in their area

Responding to the allegations made by the students union, the special investigation cell (SIC) Vigilance  chief Dr Hemant Tiwari, informed “As everyone is aware that the work of this road started in 2008-09 and has been continuing ever since then. It involves a lot of paper trail, accounts trails, bills disbursement etc”.

“SIC is investigating this matter professionally and thoroughly. There are many more individuals (govt. servants, concessioners and private individuals) whose roles are under scanner in this case. But arrest cannot be affected merely on suspicion. We are in process of collecting sound evidences”. SIC said.

“As per the requirements of the investigation, more arrests will be made following due process of law. SIC strongly refute any allegations of going soft on investigation; picking & choosing the individuals for arrest”. The SIC said. 

The SIC request all the stakeholders to cooperate so that entire scams can be unearthed and justice can be delivered.”

It is to mention that the SIC (Vigilance) has registered the case vide SIC (VIG) PS Case No-02/2021 u/s 120 (B)/420/465/471/409 IPC R/W Sec. 13(1) (c) (d) & 13 (2) PC Act, 1988 and under investigation.
