ITANAGAR, AUG 27 ; A total of 16 cases have been so far registered for illegal timber smuggling during the year 2020-21 across the state. informed Environment & Forest Minister Mama Natung in the state assembly during the session on August 27 in written reply to the question raised by the former Chief Minister and Sagalee MLA Nabam Tuki.
As of record available, 16 cases have been registered with four persons arrested and sent to jail. Seizures were also made by the Divisional protection squad under Seijosa range of Khellong forest division on May 12 2021. Approximately 100 cfty of illegally operated sawn timber and two power chain saws were seized and cases were registered at Seijosa police station in Pakke Kessang district. The Forest Minister stated.
